I still have so many quest pets and mounts to collect that I thought I would never want to use the Orb of Rebirth and start over since I'd lose all my attribute points. I had 122 attribute points before the change was made to stop awarding them after reaching level 100.
But I really, really wanted the Orb of Rebirth achievement AND to change classes and get all the gear from the other classes AND to try being a new class with new skills for awhile. I've only played as a Warrior and occasional Rogue throughout my whole 18 months with Habitica.
Plus I wanted to use the game a little differently to track some health-related Dailies and To-Do's.
So I bit the bullet at the beginning of the year and rebirthed. Here are my experiences so far:
- I sold some extra eggs and hatching potions and re-purchased my Legendary Equipment first which gave me a huge boost in stats right away.
- It was surprisingly easier to get to level 10 (class selection) this time with the use of the Legendary Equipment.
- It feels liberating to know that now I can change classes when I want and don't have to protect those 22 extra attribute points.
- Repurchasing all my equipment is turning into a very, very positive motivator for me, almost as much as questing. This has been a BIG surprise for me because I didn't realize it would be so much fun, but it gives the game a new dimension now. I think I might add repurchasing my equipment as a personal goal on my table so I can track it as well (since it's not an official achievement).
All in all, I'm glad I waited this long to rebirth since I needed to be ready to do it, but it gives the game a new strategy and new focus and adds a new dimension of fun.
