This page lists all guilds that have inactive leaders, as of the date listed below. A leader is considered inactive when they have not logged in to Habitica (website or app) for at least six months. The players from the Pirate Cove are assessing these guilds to see what should be done with them. The options are:

  • Ask in guild chat if the guild members would like to select a new leader. This should be the option chosen in most cases.
  • Recommend to Alys that the guild be privatised - e.g., if the guild has not had any discussion for a long time. In most cases, Alys will probably prefer that the first option be chosen instead, because the process of choosing a new leader might bring a guild back to life.
  • Recommend to Alys that the guild be deleted. This might be appropriate if the guild is extremely inactive - e.g., if there have hardly been any chat messages since it was created.

Before approaching a guild, it is important that you get permission first from the Pirate Cove. This is to ensure that no other actions regarding that guild have occurred yet and that you are aware of any history or special circumstances regarding the guild.

Once permission has been received, a suggested message to the guild can be:

Ahoy! The current leader of this Guild has gone missing for at least six months. We, the Pirate Cove, have noticed this and would like to help keep this Guild running smoothly by appointing a new leader. *If you feel like you would do a good job managing this Guild*—that you would be committed, keep the chat going if needed, possibly run some challenges, and generally overall improve the guild—**please speak up**! The admins will consider **everyone** who applies. You can learn more about the Pirates of the Pirate Cove and what we do [here](http://habitica.fandom.com/wiki/The_Keep:Pirate_Cove/FAQ).

This has the following elements:

  • Plain English. We are all pirates! but the landlubbers sometime have trouble understanding us
  • Explains who we are and what we do.
  • Explains that approval will be required by Habitica's Admins/Moderators. It not just up to you, you're just facilitating the change.
  • A member can't just come in and claim the guild. They need to show they've been productive member of the guild before.

It is important during the hail that:

  • not state in the guild that is slow or is targeted for last rites deletion as this can stop a crew being active. If a guild is to be approved for last rites, this should be done by the Captains or Admirals to avoid the ships sailing into the wrong wind.
  • not to automatically decline or accept any volunteers until confirmation from the Admiral/Captain. Stating this too early in chat may stop other members putting themselves forward. The best option is to acknowledge while asking for any other volunteers.
  • At least wait 7 to 14 days before reporting back to the cove to ensure all crew has had an opportunity to respond. (14 days particular for no response to hails) Less 7 days is only warranted if it is a fast moving guild and the hail is likely to fall off the chat cliff.

Once a new captain has been elected, it is a good idea to inform them of the resources they can use to rustle up their crew. A suggested post can be:

Ahoy! Reporting back me first hail o' the Slytherin House from 7 days past.

First one to volunteer was user @FutureFlyingPhoenix (User ID: 4b4c9f74-1d7e-41ab-ab1b-0115cee40a4a, Joined: 04/03/2018), seems they joined the guild only few weeks prior to hail and posted few times before it.

Second volunteer was socialite and fellow pirate @KarisHope (User ID: 8d1602f5-379b-4d97-955e-750c0c5aec8d, Joined: 29/01/2015) who posted this very comprehensive application, detailing her plans for the future of the guild. She seems to be very active in the guild already by organizing challenges etc. and have put lots of thought into it. Her application was well received by other members of the guild and she seems to have the support of the most active members (including @FutureFlyingPhoenix whose last message was "@KarisHope you are awesome! You should be guild lead! I’m willing to help in anyway I can :)").

I would recommend to promote @KarisHope as the new leader.

The Just For Today Don't Do Anything Really Stupid Guild

Description:

What stupid things do you do? Ever done any binge eating? Binge drinking? Do you procrastinate away your work time? How about stay up too late? Skip workouts? Spend too much money? This guild is for people who struggle to improve themselves. We WANT to improve ourselves, but we don't. We know what to do to lose the weight we need to lose, but we don't. We know what to do for our school or careers but, too often, we don't. We know that we shouldn't have that next beer, or spend our hard-earned cash on things we don't need.

Why don't we concentrate on not doing anything really stupid JUST FOR TODAY?

Today, maybe we will have a donut, but we will NOT engage in all-or-nothing thinking and follow it up with a whole night of binge eating. Today, we might goof-off a little on the computer, but we'll drag ourselves away, especially if we should be doing something else. Today, we WILL do our workout. Today, we WILL get started on things on our to-do lists . Today, we CAN go out and have a drink with a friend, but we will NOT overdo it.

Let's focus on NOT being perfect, just being perfectly healthy.

Hailed Oct. 2. One person offered to lead if no one else stepped up, but they were concerned about taking on another guild. Of 338 members, 120 are at the inn and 280 inactive in the last month, leaving 58 active in the last month. There aren't any regular posters. Before my hail, there were 8 posts in the last year. In 2 years, there have been 43 posts, with a lot of them questioning whether the guild is still active. This guild seems to have been limping along for a while. Its mission is extremely broad, so reviving it may prove difficult. I'm inclined to recommend Last Rites. The one volunteer would have to put in a lot of effort to get it going again.

@Lindsey, I've just had a look at the The Just For Today Don't Do Anything Really Stupid Guild and I can see the problem. It's an interesting idea for a guild, but it probably does need a leader to keep things focused and attract new members. On the other hand, I can't think of another guild that does anything quite like that and a few people obviously find it useful.

I looked at the guild and based on Legendary Socialite, Artisan @Blue Quartz (User Id: 71cc1d85-b128-48ed-890f-e912e79d0480 Born: 22 Apr 2017) post they would like the guild instead of seeing the guild is closed. This is also a very slow moving guild so I don't see it much of issue with activity as long as @Blue Quartz stays active.

@2 tanners, if I remember correctly, the Imgur guild was created after a post about Habitica on Imgur resulted in a sudden flood of new users. We directed people to the guild when lots of "Hello, I'm from Imgur!" posts started flooding the Tavern. By now, they'll either have stopped using Habitica or will have found other guilds that fit their interests. I therefore agree that the guild is suitable for Last Rites.

Hailed Oct 20, no response. Of 169 members: 59 at the Inn and only 37 active within the last month. Last chat posted Sept 16, 2018. I hailed this guild in Nov 2017. The person who offered to lead was too new to assume leadership and stopped posting soon thereafter. Until recently, this guild had regular bursts of chat, which seem to have stopped. I would say we leave it alone except that the previous hail already went unanswered and the guild is slowing down. Wise counsel requested, but I'm leaning toward leaving the guild alone again.

What's the difference between Achieve and Accomplish? Hailed Oct. 2, no volunteers. Of 1050 members, 416 are at the inn and 853 haven't been active in the last month. That does still leave almost 200 people active within a month. However, this is an active guild due to only 6 people who post regularly. None of them has stepped up to lead. This guild was more active when it used to run monthly challenges. Without a leader, there's no one to run them. I could contact one of the regular posters to ask them to lead. Perhaps they could be enticed by a few gems in the guild bank. I think a monthly challenge would perk this guild right up.

One user has proposed merging with the more active "inHabitants of Earth: the eco-friendly guild", but with the comment that as that guild doesn't have a summary it is impossible to find using other words than the exact title (we tried to post in that guild chat, but that guild owner has not yet added a summary)
I could message directly some users that have posted some lines in the Sustainable Living guild.
I recommend last rites, redirecting users to the other more active guild, pending the creation of an appropriate summary for that other guild so that it is easier to find

The Great Books

Description:

A quick stroll around a library or moderately-sized bookstore will show you that there are many more books than a person could even dream of reading in a lifetime, even a hundred lifetimes. There have been over 130,000,000 books published. Where to begin? Well, not all books are created equal. Many (most?) are only just fit to prop up furniture, some not even for that. Many are good but greatly depend on your tastes and current interests. Then there are books that are truly great, books that have stood the test of time as the greatest books ever written. These books do not last because they are funny, entertaining, or have "great action" (though they are that, too). They last because they are masterfully written works of art that sound upon the human chord; they express what it is to be human, what it is to exist, and help us know ourselves and navigate this oftentimes overwhelming and confusing existence.


In this group we will read and discuss some of these books together, from "The Odyssey" to "The Brothers Karamazov" to "My Antonia." We will help each other meet reading goals and even have challenges to appease our more competitive natures.

      1. Kurzerklarung:
    • Gewohnheiten** kann man mal haben und mal nicht, sie konnen gut oder schlecht sein. Bei mir z.B. Treppe nehmen statt Rolltreppe, das ist eine Gewohnheit mit Minus und Plus. Gehe ich die Treppe: Plus, bin ich faul und nehme die Rolltreppe Minus. Oder: ich nehme am Duolingo-Wettbewerb (Sprache lernen uber die Duolingo-App) hier teil, da ist "ein Lingot" verdienen eine Gewohnheit, die nur ein Plus hat. Sobald ich einen Lingot verdient habe, tippe ich das Plus an. Minus gibt es naturlich nicht.

    • Tagliche (oder wochentliche, monatliche) Aufgaben** sind die, die sich immer zum gleichen Zeitpunkt wiederholen sollen. Dazu kann man in der Bearbeitung auch definieren, ob das taglich, an bestimmten Tagen usw. erfolgen soll. Ausserdem kann man zu jeder Aufgabe auch eine Todo-Liste hinterlegen. Beispiel bei mir: Aufgabe ist Blumen Giessen draussen, Unter-To-Do: Balkon vorne, Balkon hinten. Aufgaben sind bei mir auch Kalorien tracken (taglich), Spanisch lernen (taglich), fur's Studium lernen (alle 2 Tage), Sport machen (auch alle 2 Tage) usw.

I have asked for more detail which they stated they wanted in make the guild active again through challenges and conversation. However they have not yet created any challenges. Thoughts?

A guild with the sole purpose of defeating the Dark Over-Moderator. This Arch Fiend of Sloth has enticed those around the world to join his cause, yet we stand to resist him. We must aid our brothers and sisters caught in his oily miasmatic depths in order to raise our numbers against his forces.

We will start a month of challenge for the month of September. The Over-moderator in us all gets in the way of what is truly important in life.

@cTheDragons, @Lindsey A reminder that Magic: The Gathering - Planeswalkers is on its second hail. We replaced the captain last time, but they then went awol. At the same time it's been reasonably active (or not dead, anyway) and chat, rather than challenges, seems to be its major function. They could probably function without a captain if necessary.

@JadeRite with [Magic: The Gathering Planeswalkers] I have reviewed your guild. Just a note with your hail, could you please follow the guidelines when hailing to avoid issues. Your hail could technically be considered a breach of community guidelines as it used Heading Font without a strong reason. I have noticed the guild leader has returned, although they are keen to give the guild to someone else. Will keep monitoring till the new year.

I spent 5 years hurting a good woman by staying with her but never fully choosing her.


I did want to be with this one. I really wanted to choose her. She was an exquisite woman, brilliant and funny and sexy and sensual. She could make my whole body laugh with her quick, dark wit and short-circuit my brain with her exotic beauty. Waking up every morning with her snuggled in my arms was my happy place. I loved her wildly.


Unfortunately, as happens with many young couples, our ignorance of how to do love well quickly created stressful challenges in our relationship. Before long, once my early morning blissful reverie gave way to the strained, immature ways of our everyday life together, I would often wonder if there was another woman out there who was easier to love, and who could love me better.


As the months passed and that thought reverberated more and more through my head, I chose her less and less. Every day, for five years, I chose her a little less.


I stayed with her. I just stopped choosing her. We both suffered. Choosing her would have meant focusing every day on the gifts she was bringing into my life that I could be grateful for: her laughter, beauty, sensuality, playfulness, companionship, and so ... much ... more.


Sadly, I often found it nearly impossible to embrace - or even see - what was so wildly wonderful about her.


I was too focused on the anger, insecurities, demands, and other aspects of her strong personality that grated on me. The more I focused on her worst, the more I saw of it, and the more I mirrored it back to her by offering my own worst behavior. Naturally, this only magnified the strain on our relationship ... which still made me choose her even less.


Thus did our nasty death spiral play itself out over five years. She fought hard to make me choose her. That's a fool's task. You can't make someone choose you, even when they might love you. To be fair, she didn't fully choose me, either. The rage-fueled invective she often hurled at me was evidence enough of that. I realize now, however, that she was often angry because she didn't feel safe with me. She felt me not choosing her every day, in my words and my actions, and she was afraid I would abandon her.


Actually, I did abandon her.


By not fully choosing her every day for five years, by focusing on what bothered me rather than what I adored about her, I deserted her.


Like a precious fragrant flower I brought proudly into my home but then failed to water, I left her alone in countless ways to wither in the dry hot heat of our intimate relationship. I'll never not choose another woman I love again. It's torture for everyone.


If you're in relationship, I invite you to ask yourself this question: "Why am I choosing my partner today?"


If you can't find a satisfying answer, dig deeper and find one. It could be as simple as noticing that in your deepest heart's truth, "I just do."


If you can't find it today, ask yourself again tomorrow. We all have disconnected days.


But if too many days go by and you just can't connect with why you're choosing your partner, and your relationship is rife with stress, let them go. Create the opening for another human being to show up and see them with fresh eyes and a yearning heart that will enthusiastically choose them every day.


Your loved one deserves to be enthusiastically chosen. Every day. You do, too.

Wise Counsel Requested Over in Barefooters, Eriliu (UID: 551fda53-bcf7-49f7-ab80-32961e6be200) has applied to takeover as leader. They don't seem to have been active before hail, but a more pressing concern for me is that they are suggesting a broadening of the scope of the guild to include "other ways of exposing oneself to the elements besides barefooting" and asked if us Pirates would agree to this. In this particular case, FeelFree (UID: 9979d1b1-85f0-43d0-bcda-280da5779490) who is more active in the guild has indicated that this change would not be welcome, but I'm unclear as to our stand on this situation in general. Advice?

@grandeR, I've just had a look at the chat in the Barefooters guild and I don't think that broadening the guild in the way Eriliu is suggesting would be helpful or welcome to existing guild members. Some of their suggestions are already covered by the spiritual/pagan guilds and the cookery guilds. In view of that we should refuse their offer to take the leadership role, particularly as they have not been active prior to the hail. Please can you post thanking them for their offer but explaining that we normally give the leadership to long-standing members? You can also say that we feel that a broadening of the guild can only be undertaken if it has been discussed by guild members and there is a clear majority in favour.

Hailed 12 days ago, no response. No one has posted since mid-June, when there was a burst of chat in response to @grandeR's previous hail on May 7. Before that, the last round of posts was in March. This seems to be a pattern with the guild: a burst of chat every 3-6 months. Of 97 members, 80 have not been active in the last month and 35 are at the inn. I'm leaning toward Last Rites. Wise counsel requested.

Current activity out of the 40 members, only 9 active in the last month (2 are pirates). I realise this is a slow moving guild, but I'm concern for the long term viability of this guild. That being said it is a support guild. Recommendations? Last Rites? Privatized? If so could one of the mods hail Last Rites due to the gentler kinder message stated when I hailed.

@cTheDragons, responding to your request for wise counsel, I think we may have a chicken and egg problem with the Veterans of Habitica guild. The guild leader is not publicising the guild, so unless people think to search, they won't find it. I am reluctant to close it, though it's possible that anyone who needs support is using the other support guilds, but it might be good if ex-armed forces people had their own guild.

How to ADHD is a weird one. It's supposed to be a portal to a private guild that requires a Discord handle for entry. Nobody responds to the invite requests, though. There was one person other than the guild leader who was handling requests, but they've been absent since March. Someone in chat implied that @MastaCody (the current leader) is also leader of the private guild, which means that guild is also without a leader.

I don't even know who could take over leadership. They would have to be a member of the Discord How to ADHD forums, already have access to the private Habitica guild, and be a currently active Habitican. Does anyone even fit that description? Requiring a guild leader to be a member of another website is also problematic. Wise comment required. I'm in favor of closing this guild. The unanswered invites seem to cause some distress. At this point, the guild is doing more harm than good.

@Lindsey it appears the guild was a gateway to a discord "chat" item not a private guild itself. I'm in two minds if we should just go to Last Rites now and suggest merging with another ADHD guild as there appears to be no real chat other than the non-reponse to players for request to discord invites and party invites. That being said it has only been 4 months and there appears to be an active challenge before that. I think the new leader would have to drop the idea of having chat outside Habitica and leave it internally. What do you think? If you are starting to think to tricky, I'm happy to take the guild on.

@cTheDragons, @Lindsey, having looked at the How to ADHD (Public) guild and found the How to ADHD website, I think we could go straight to Last Rites. The guild leader is inactive and apparently busy with stuff that makes a return unlikely. As well as that, I don't think that a whole guild is justified when it's basically just a way of linking to resources outside Habitica. I think that all that is required is a mention in the Description of one of the active ADHD guilds that the site is a useful source of support and advice, with perhaps a challenge to provide more information and links.

@Dewines @cTheDragons @Accio Books! How to ADHD is intended exclusively to be a portal to a private site. Thus, I think a new leader would have to give the guild a major overhaul--more than would be reasonable to ask. However, I do like the idea of a merge. The ADHDers Guild is a very lively, large guild with an active leader. If they agree to a merge, perhaps they would also agree to have the How to ADHD challenges transferred.

How to ADHD (Public) is due to be sink on the 11 September. A comment has been posted in the guild explaining it origin:

It's for Patreons. My friend turned me onto the YouTube channel affiliated with this guild. It's private because it's basically an extension of the discord group which is private for anybody but those who donate to the HowToADHD Patreon. This app was probably recommended on the channel which is why there's a group here.

Despite the comment I believe the guild should be closed down as there is noone actively enraged with the youtube channel or discord group.

For How to ADHD (Public), there's a post from felidstar from 11 hours ago, saying that someone else will contact us. I guess we can wait a few days to see if anything happens and then if not, delete the guild.

The guild is not much active but there is activity, the hail has been ignored by the users that have been active in the guild in the last few days. Contributor @Accio Books! (user ID: 95f16006-1504-4a9f-95b6-0c7314dbd7ee) has proposed themself, long-term member of the guild and tier 7 contributor, could certainly be a good choice.

I'd just like to reinforce that my volunteering for Mathematica is only in case no one else applies. I really like the Guild, but I'm currently struggling to find time for working on Habitica stuff.

Two weeks after the hail of the guild Mathematica only contributor @Accio Books! (User ID: 95f16006-1504-4a9f-95b6-0c7314dbd7ee) has answered or even acknowledged the hail, and they have asked to be considered as last resort. The guild is slow moving but still active. At this point maybe the guild could be rolled over to the next list and try again later, see if it survives on its own.

Hi @habitmach5 I have just heard back from Admin regarding your request to be guild leader. Thank you for applying! Admin like to promote visible long term guild members as captain. They have therefore decided to leave things as they are for the time being but we will keep an eye on the guild for a few months to see how things go. Please feel free though to start doing "leadership things" like, promoting discussion, hosting challenges etc. (Please be aware on the restriction of wording regarding promoting this guild and associated challenges as stated by Alys below).
