This page lists all guilds that have inactive leaders, as of the date listed below. A leader is considered inactive when they have not logged in to Habitica (website or app) for at least six months. The players from the Pirate Cove are assessing these guilds to see what should be done with them. The options are:

  • Ask in guild chat if the guild members would like to select a new leader. This should be the option chosen in most cases.
  • Recommend to Alys that the guild be privatised - e.g., if the guild has not had any discussion for a long time. In most cases, Alys will probably prefer that the first option be chosen instead, because the process of choosing a new leader might bring a guild back to life.
  • Recommend to Alys that the guild be deleted. This might be appropriate if the guild is extremely inactive - e.g., if there have hardly been any chat messages since it was created.

Before approaching a guild, it is important that you get permission first from the Pirate Cove. This is to ensure that no other actions regarding that guild have occurred yet and that you are aware of any history or special circumstances regarding the guild.

Once permission has been received, a suggested message to the guild can be:

Ahoy! The current leader of this Guild has gone missing for at least six months. We, the Pirate Cove, have noticed this and would like to help keep this Guild running smoothly by appointing a new leader. *If you feel like you would do a good job managing this Guild*—that you would be committed, keep the chat going if needed, possibly run some challenges, and generally overall improve the guild—**please speak up**! The admins will consider **everyone** who applies. You can learn more about the Pirates of the Pirate Cove and what we do [here](http://habitica.fandom.com/wiki/The_Keep:Pirate_Cove/FAQ).

This has the following elements:

  • Plain English. We are all pirates! but the landlubbers sometime have trouble understanding us
  • Explains who we are and what we do.
  • Explains that approval will be required by Habitica's Admins/Moderators. It not just up to you, you're just facilitating the change.
  • A member can't just come in and claim the guild. They need to show they've been productive member of the guild before.

It is important during the hail that:

  • not state in the guild that is slow or is targeted for last rites deletion as this can stop a crew being active. If a guild is to be approved for last rites, this should be done by the Captains or Admirals to avoid the ships sailing into the wrong wind.
  • not to automatically decline or accept any volunteers until confirmation from the Admiral/Captain. Stating this too early in chat may stop other members putting themselves forward. The best option is to acknowledge while asking for any other volunteers.
  • At least wait 7 to 14 days before reporting back to the cove to ensure all crew has had an opportunity to respond. (14 days particular for no response to hails) Less 7 days is only warranted if it is a fast moving guild and the hail is likely to fall off the chat cliff.

Once a new captain has been elected, it is a good idea to inform them of the resources they can use to rustle up their crew. A suggested post can be:

If the guild still does not thrive, DrNewton will ask in Pirate Cove for the guild to be deleted.

Reporting in. 3 weeks ago I hailed The Basics, a guild of people who struggle with everyday life. None feel they could take on the leadership role, but frankly I think they manage quite well without it. I suggest leaving them in the In Progress class, or marking them finished and rehailing every time the list rolls over in case a leader-y type person has joined. Wise Advice required.

@2 tanners, I sometimes wonder whether some guilds really need a leader as they function perfectly well without one. It feels wrong to have a "leader" who hasn't used Habitica for over 6 months, yet if none of the active guild members wants to be appointed, it's difficult to know what to do. In both cases, I can only suggest making a note that no suitable candidate is currently available, though both guilds are active and so we need to re-hail some time in the future. Your suggestion of trying again next time the list rolls over is a good one.

Re: The Basics I suspect the posters take the guild as long as they know it not that much work more. Just update the summary/description with the new website changes and that it. As you said before the guild pretty runs itself. I would of like to come up with some names but the server lag/computer running out of power has stopped me. I will try again tomorrow when I can review.

The Basics is fairly active guild, with great topics around the Basics. As reported many users are feel they could not take the leadership due to the nature of the things they are struggling with. That being said I noticed that Legendary Socialite citrusella, the serving wench (User id: 2d6ef231-50b4-4a22-90e7-45eb97147a2c) would make an excellent leader as they are already doing many leaderish type things like keeping the guild topic focused on the topic. Becoming leader should not require any other work. (Besides they would be more than trust worthy in removing inactive players from the guild. There is over 7000 out of the 9000 members who been inactive in the last month. Even if you stick to 8 month removal you would remove over 5000 players).

The only other candidates that could be are:

The Basics: I really like the idea about rotating leadership from @'Rei Steiner and @sophiashinies, in particular this: "Even if only one person gets the name, we could put a committee in our description so if someone has to disappear, 4-5 other people are available to lead the guild." That would make it very easy for the Pirates to change leadership whenever necessary without waiting six months! I'd be happy to make any of the four candiates you listed leader but I feel that @sophiashinies (896233e6-49a5-4d6a-9da6-22cec6bc4a2a) might be best initially based on her comment "I think I am willing to be guild leader" and her "put a committee in our description" suggestion. I have absolutely nothing against citrusella being leader but think sophiashinies is a better choice because citrusella said "I might be willing to try to take it on if no one else steps up". I support citrusella's desire to have the inactive members removed and would be happy to help with that if whoever becomes leader doesn't feel comfortable doing it for any reason. Would you like to make a decision based on this and/or on your own opinion?

Could you please also **REMOVE INACTIVE ACCOUNTS** more than 8 months or more to make the guild more manageable and allow the guild leader to change to new leader if required. (And drop below the 5000 Membership number so notifications now work).

@Azuran Thanks for your reports on Habitica Québec and your desire to volunteer for the guild. I would not want you to take the guild leadership just because. Normally in this situation in is on a case by case basis, we would look at the following steps: Before actioning any of these steps please approach the leadership first in case there is something not aware of. Particular approaching potential new leaders.

  • See if there is an active player still in the guild and approach them by PM if they wish to take over. One potential candidate is D'Orève Reine Doune (UID: 47df850d-87a1-4fe4-b1b3-47ceeb55cbcb) 8 lines of chat active in the last 24 hours.
  • Look at moving the guild to last rites. I don't think this appropriate as there has been movement in the guild in the last 8 days.
  • Keep monitoring and move to another guild while you wait.

With Internet Marketing Tavern I would recommend monitoring the guild for at least another 10-14 days (as it is a slow moving guild) and then consider the options listed below and approach the leadership on what option you think is best.

+ [wa1ter](UID: 0acf1c01-5e3d-42af-a24f-8902564bf5f0 Born 6 Nov 2015) has asked to be leader of [Internet Marketing Tavern](https://habitica.com/groups/guild/102453dc-942e-46cf-8652-1b67f70c0be3) and via PM [P.A.V.C](https://habitica.com/groups/guild/d21448da-ee74-48e6-bfb1-ec4d32d30df7) (BOT CAPTURED GUILD). This player has not posted in either guild prior and has appeared to only recently come back to Habitica. Both these guilds have not been able to find a leader for a while, so while I'm happy that a leader is found I would like to avoid the issue that we had with [Dar al-Arqam](https://habitica.com/groups/guild/6c6f4df6-8bc2-4a4c-a5a1-d4f1ef447989), where the leader was made guild leader and then disappears.

For Internet Marketing Tavern and P.A.V.C, I too would like to avoid issues with a new leader disappearing, so I'd rather not make wa1ter (0acf1c01-5e3d-42af-a24f-8902564bf5f0) leader. I'll let you proceed with these as you see fit (or you can ask other Pirates to proceed) and then if you make any decision for wa1ter or for anyone else, I'll stand by what you decide.

Tavern Hailed 2017-08-15 then rehaild 2017-10-17. This guild has become inactive since the chatter of last month (The previous candidate was rejected due to lack of previous activity in the guild). Only 19 Active members in the last week from 86 in total. Though there is some spordatic chat, this guild appears to be taking on water.

I have checked with @Unaw who has been helping with the translations and is also an active member of the both guilds and has confirm the request as well as think this is a good idea. Ok to go ahead and ask to MERGE and declare last rites?

Weibo (微博) and Habitica tieba 百度habitica吧　Chinese 中文 - My current feeling is that I'd prefer to not delete those guilds, even if they have little traffic. They're both for popular Chinese social media platforms and every so often we see a surge of new users in the Tavern from one of those platforms. It's convenient to have those guilds waiting so that we can direct the new players to them (although of course they're also welcome to keep posting in the Tavern). Although since the guild members themselves have suggested merging, maybe we should. I'll check with the other mods.

Weibo and Tieba are social media platforms, so suggesting that their guilds be merged would be like suggesting that an imgur and reddit guild be merged - possibly something that some members would not want. There might also be regional differences between the cultures predominant in each guild, or language / dialect differences. The language barrier for the mods and staff makes it impossible for us to judge that carefully and so we would rather let all three guilds continue than risk upsetting some members. All three guilds are active to at least some extent, so it doesn't feel inappropriate to let them all keep existing. I understand that Unaw has recommended that they be merged, and we're grateful for their feedback and their efforts to assist all three communities, but we still think it's best that we don't intervene since we don't have our own direct, accurate understanding of the guilds. If after several months one or more of the guilds has become completely inactive, we might then consider shutting it down, but if that happens, we want it to be solely because the guild members have lost interest or moved on of their own accord.

And one I need to explain in detail: The Chinese guilds tieba and Weibo is as active as it was (hailed 10 days ago). Though the hail has some minor acknowledgements, there has been no response to the hail. There was even one response in the Weibo guild which said "this guild's leader has already gone missing for 6 months but that's still okay."

As far as I am concerned, they originally wanted a merger into the Chinese Users guild but the mods didn't want that (due to them being quite important stopping points and the fact that Chinese users make up a substantial user base of Habitica). This means that we likely need to find leaders for these guilds. The linguists 青木 and Unaw (UserIDs 4027fc39-7112-4d0e-b5a3-697dd20c08d6 and a6b1fc1f-abd8-416b-b5f0-bda8fa5a1bac respectively) seem to be good candidates. However, Unaw has refused leadership of the Chinese Users guild when it was hailed. Should I try 青木 or Unaw (by PM)? Failing that, I could try S.W.4 (User ID:16c4eabd-af1f-4f84-b175-99a5717dd293) who is the leader of the Chinese users Guild.

@MistressThinker I am wondering if theTieba and Wiebo guilds are worth keeping if they are that slow. I acknowledge the Powers that be desire they have these guilds as stepping stones for new players, however if they are very bare maybe it better we declare last rites and ask S.W.4 to change the summary of the Chinese Guild with the terms Tieba and Wiebo? There nothing worst than a new player find "the right guild" to only find it dead in the water. What is your evaluation of these two guilds ? Are they really that useful for new Chinese speaking players?

@cTheDragons: As a socialite, I generally direct new Chinese players to the [Chinese Users guild] anyways (unless they specifically say that they are from one of these platforms which I have yet to see in the Tavern) especially if they ask if there are any Chinese players in Habitica. Cultural differences in China tend to be along the urban/rural divide such that rural Chinese will have a cultural shock when they come into the cities. I only know that much.

Users are still attempting party requests and there appears to still be new users appearing in these guilds every now and then, and with users being invited into parties from there as well. As a note, [Weibo] is close to twitter and [Tieba] doesn't really have much of a western equivalent (though you could argue it's similar to Reddit but they are technically a bulletin board). They seem pretty similar in intent and some players duplicate their party recruiting between all three of these guilds.

That being said, the Chinese users guild seems to be the main guild for Chinese players and it is a really big guild, and also appears to be a more or less the main stopping point for all Chinese players. Although the other two tends to be slow-moving and active. Are they really useful? My answer to that is "maybe." This is because while newbie question are answered in these two guilds, they tend to be answered faster in the main guild (The Chinese users) so I can see the benefits of a merge if it needs be. But then again, I can see that the mods do have a point (all three guilds have a lot of party requests and recruitment messages though).

So my conclusion is that I may need to speak to S.W.4 to see what they think as they are an active member of both these guilds in question. Should I PM S.W.4?

Update: I have PMed S.W.4 regarding the Chinese guilds, and asked if they are willing to lead and also about what they think is the best. They have said that it is best if we can keep the [Weibo] and [Tieba] guilds as they still have many members. However, they admit that if they take on both these guilds they said that they wouldn't have much time to organise challenges for them all. They have also said that merging is also a good possibility.

In this case, I think that we should attempt to find leaders for these two guilds and if we can't we may need to consider a merger. However, they do admit that it is their personal opinion and it is not representative of the views of the whole Chinese community. So I will continue the attempt to find leaders. Since I can't really find obvious leaders due to the fact that these guilds are dominated by party requests and recruitment, [Chinese User's guild] has a list of party leaders so I can also take these into consideration. If I shall proceed to finding new leaders, then I could start with 青木(UserID: 4027fc39-7112-4d0e-b5a3-697dd20c08d6), asking if they are willing to be leaders? What do you all think?

@cTheDragons @MistressThinker If I remember correctly the Weibo and Tieba guilds were created after Habitica a was featured on those sites resulting in a huge influx of new members. Like the Reddit guild, these guilds for a specific site often die down after the initial enthusiasm wears off. They were kept around in case Habit ice was featured again, but I take your point about new members ending up in a dead guild. On the other hand, would the main Chinese guild want a load of new players bursting in with hundreds of, "I'm from Weibo!" type posts?

My judgement is that merging is an absolute last resort so I do want to find a leader, especially as the Chinese user base is fairly large in Habitica. Also, I probably want to wait 7 days before I proceed to PM someone else (if that's how I should proceed).

@cTheDragons: Regarding the Chinese guilds weibo and tieba: 青木(User ID:4027fc39-7112-4d0e-b5a3-697dd20c08d6) has not replied on my PM, nor acted upon it. I could try Unaw(User ID:a6b1fc1f-abd8-416b-b5f0-bda8fa5a1bac) but the problem is that I have read the history and they have previously declined a leadership position. Another one I can try is Linguistic Scribe dfpy737(User ID:2cccfaad-e1ad-4c89-ab89-81e6f6616bf5). Who should I proceed to? (and let me know on their English, as I'd much rather send the PM in Chinese than for them to Google or more likely Baidu translate my message).

Your Final Hour Gaming (YFHG) is a gaming community created by myself and a close friend of mine. We want it to be a place where anyone can come together and play games with no pressure or stress from other members. Our motto is "Real life comes first," and we will hold true to that forever. We understand that things happen, and it's completely okay if you simply can't log on for the day because of something happening in the real world. That is part of our desire to create a low-pressure environment where all kinds of gamers, from casual to competitive, can come together to enjoy the wonder of video games. Unfortunately, due to our real lives, our gaming community is on an indefinite hiatus (ironic, isn't it?). However, in any games we play, we still create groups and guilds under the same name and run them on the same philosophy, so YFHG is not dead! It's simply on the back burner for the time being. So, if you come across said groups and guilds, then feel free to join, because nothing has changed other than our community being limited to specific games rather than the large, consolidated mass of gamers we were trying to create.

The Chinese guilds [weibo] and [tieba]: 青木(User ID:4027fc39-7112-4d0e-b5a3-697dd20c08d6) has not replied to my PM about leadership (written 4 days ago). How should I proceed? My judgement is that merging is an absolute last resort so I do want to find a leader, especially as the Chinese user base is fairly large in Habitica. Also, I probably want to wait 7 days before I proceed to PM someone else (if that's how I should proceed).

I could try Unaw(User ID:a6b1fc1f-abd8-416b-b5f0-bda8fa5a1bac) but the problem is that I have read the history and they have previously declined a leadership position. Another one I can try is Linguistic Scribe dfpy737(User ID:2cccfaad-e1ad-4c89-ab89-81e6f6616bf5). Who should I proceed to? (and let me know on their English, as I'd much rather send the PM in Chinese than for them to Google or more likely Baidu translate my message).

This user is a potential captain but it having so much trouble with the interface, they intend to leave Habitica. We should tread slowly to see if that situation has a positive resolution.

@2 tanners, I sometimes wonder whether some guilds really need a leader as they function perfectly well without one. It feels wrong to have a "leader" who hasn't used Habitica for over 6 months, yet if none of the active guild members wants to be appointed, it's difficult to know what to do. In both cases, I can only suggest making a note that no suitable candidate is currently available, though both guilds are active and so we need to re-hail some time in the future. Your suggestion of trying again next time the list rolls over is a good one.

For the Veggie cooking club, @mandiferous was acting captain and would be a popular choice but announced personal problems some months ago and although they have returned to Habitica regularly since the hail, have not posted in the veggie cooking club, including failing to close out some challenges. @Gilly Tanza took over as acting leader but was frustrated by the new interface and appears to have made good on their statement that they were leaving Habitica altogether. @AbelianGrape (UID:e723ec48-2de6-4560-8f89-ed505a3efdf3, Born 10-9-2017) then took over and would make a good leader except that they have clearly stated that they don't think they have the time for such a commitment (had to go AWOL during the college finals). @tigerling has been with Habitica for less than 6 months (only one month more than @AbelianGrape and has taken part in the challenges (which requires posting) but not stimulated much conversation. I could PM @AbelianGrape and ask them if they would consider taking it on (subject to admiralty's confirmation, of course). A part time captain is better than none at all, and if they volunteered in open chat announcing any reservations they had, others could then choose to step up. Thoughts?

@Levin, as you seem to be new to the [Pastafarian Guild] and we prefer to give the leadership to an established guild member, I suggest that you try out your ideas just as an ordinary guild member. The only advantage of being leader is that can edit the guild details and you can use the guild gems for challenges, but challenges can be useful and fun even without a gem prize. We'll therefore continue to monitor the Pastafarian Guild and see what happens. If you're still interested in being leader in a few months time, we're more likely to make the change once we've seen you're committed to making the guild a success.

Hailed 20 December 2017, was put on hold until end of January. No volunteers in response to hail and one new post. Last chat September 29, 2017. Of 63 members, 19 are at the inn, only 15 active in the last month. If there were more active Habiticans, I would suggest another hail, but it would not reach many members. Try it anyhow? Otherwise, I recommend Last Rites, unless someone can think of a way to revive the guild.

@2 tanners I thought about suggesting a merge, then thought it might be like suggesting a merge of U.S. East and West Coast guilds. The very idea! Any Aussies (ahem, @cTheDragons) or Kiwis care to weigh in?

@Lindsey: You will be looking into some cultural differences, and honestly, there are some friendly rivalry between the two countries but in the end, we Aussies and Kiwis do get on pretty well (another Aussie pirate speaking). I would want some kiwis to speak but I am not sure if they really will. I think @Alys is Australian too and that may be a final determiner here.

@cTheDragons The Aussie captain is trying to figure out an inclusive name based on the ANZAC / ANZUS heritage (and not the Bledisloe Cup). They'll be fine to amend the summary as well. HOWEVER, there is a problem. In the chat over a year ago you and Alys appointed ChaosCalix (User ID:1da08c1c-ea0b-4f3d-a254-3c7659cb7480, DOB 09/02/2016) to replace @simon Brownsea. ChaosCalix last posted in December 2016 (over a year ago) promising challenges etc which don't seem to have eventuated. ChaosCalix last checked in on 1/1/2018. However, the listed leader is RaisedByCats(User ID:01f9477e-e9e8-47ef-9605-df41f38569ed, DOB 06/08/2014). Not sure where they came from, posted once 3 years ago. Unless ChaosCalix left the guild and it simply descended on RaisedByCats.

Alex Loe (uid: a6671e1a-c6b8-4c22-9dfa-e444236a4f9f) has volunteered to be leader of Habit City Roller Derby. There is one post in support of them and the message has one like. They do make a strong case for leadership (being a coach in a guild about a sport, and really good ideas about challenges). My concern is that they are relatively new to Habitica (started just more than a month ago) and have only posted once in the guild before the hail. Even the person themselves have concerns about how long they can keep it up. I'd let the admirals have it on this one.

With regard to the Habit City Roller Derby guild, can you post thanking @Alex Loe for their offer, but suggesting that we prefer to appoint someone who has been in Habitica longer than just a few weeks? We'll therefore hold off changing the leader for a little while, but please also suggest that most of a leader's duties can be done as an ordinary Habitican and we'll return to the guild in a few months and review the situation then.

I have checked out this guild and there is a number of users still active (33 Users from 147 in the last week). It was suggested merging however I am unable to find any guilds specifically on topic. Nothing with the word Gluten. Obviously there is "Healthy Eating guilds which may not be the same". Looking at the users there is one obvious candidate to PM and ask if they want to become leader is Faelwyn the Rising Phoenix (User: 87c82b20-a762-4d27-81a5-f59bf37170bd). Active in the last 24 hours Posted in chat in the last 16 days and has posted in the guild 11 times.

Gluten-Free Living Hailed 14 Nov, one potential volunteer identified, Faelwyn the Rising Phoenix (User: 87c82b20-a762-4d27-81a5-f59bf37170bd), but they declined, no new chat since hail (15 Nov), admins identified this as a potentially high interest guild that cannot be merged into a similar guild due to the specificity of the topic. 50 Active out 150 in the last month. (36 active in the last week). Best to hold till the end of Jan? Or declare last rites to see who wants the guild since no new chat for over 2 months?

Thank you for offering to take on the leadership of the guild. For your information we usually prefer the guild leader to be a long-standing active member of the guild and though you may both have been guild members for a while, neither of you has actually posted here till mentioned the absent leader. The Habitica Admin has decided to not appoint a new leader right now. Instead I suggest that you see what you can do as ordinary guild member to help the guild to flourish. You can join in the discussion, welcome new members and encourage guild members to post useful challenges. You can also create challenges yourself. We will look at this guild again in the future to see how things are going and if the guild is doing well, it should then be easier to choose a new leader.

@2 tanners: My opinion in the matter of this guild may not really matter since I am really a low level pirate, but I can say that this guild is based on a site that doesn't currently exist right now (as I have looked carefully in the chats of this guild). There was one member who did direct the members to the financial discipline guild and they seem strikingly similar in purpose and goals. So maybe last rites and ask remaining members to go into the financial discipline guild? (probably need to wait for @Alys or @cTheDragons for any responses though).

I think the guild is dead. I suspect there are better guilds for the new poster to join and, as she's brand new to Habitica, giving her a dead guild to revive is probably not a good idea. There was a challenge with just two people (both inactive) so I've deleted it. The guild is now clear for deletion

Brahn was the original volunteer and has only posted once in the guild. Ryzen has not posted before the hail as their account didn't even exist before the hail. However, Ryzen has been supported by other members in the guild chat and the candidate has also posted ideas regarding the guild. My concern is that they are very new, and only created their account 5 days ago. Another potential candidate that hasn't volunteered is LucidBrot (User ID:3ff0c453-05ee-4a19-b5bc-0075ef7a5dd1) who has been using Habitica for 5 years and has posted many times before the hail.

This leaves the guild into the hands of Brahn (User ID:4c65a96d-7f8d-46ec-ba99-56b6d87a2d44) or Ryzen (User ID:535041f0-a242-4912-a78d-0000658a0304). Brahn is older but Ryzen appears to more the guild leader type. But Ryzen is a very new account so I am very concerned about this situation that I would recommend watching just to be sure.

There are only 10 active members (excluding myself) out of 66 who log in last week. 6/10 of these users are already in the [Muslim Brotherhood](https://habitica.com/groups/guild/12c769df-f934-486d-a228-a4569432815c). There is suggestion in guild chat for users to join this guild which was in June this year. Realise this is a religious guild and we need to proceed carefully here however I feel we can proceed to last rites. If we want to put some caution, and wait a little longer till we are all not so busy with the redesign, we could wait till 2 Nov 2017 (One month after hail) and they ask if anyone is interested in keeping the guild with another 14 days notice.

Dissociative disorders tend to be highly stigmatized and romanticized and we want to dispel some of the myth as well as provide a place of healing.

"Reading through some of the posts, I think it might be okay to hail, but maybe don't do it in the usual light-hearted pirate voice? Instead it could be more like "Hi there -- we noticed your leader isn't very active; would any of you from within this Guild like to take over leadership of the Guild" etc -- more somber. And maybe make it clear that there's no pressure. And it's okay to have an inactive leader if nobody is up to taking on the responsibility since it seems like some of the people in that guild have a lot on their plates. There are definitely repeat people posting and welcoming others to the Guild though, so I could see one of those people taking it on."

The suggestion has come from the leader of Doctors, medical students and health professionals. and in this instance is good one considering the 1st guild is agreeing to go and the other is considered empty. So I am writing about the three medical guilds that will be meeting soon. I would like to keep one of them and repurpose it specifically for acupuncture and Oriental medicine. I have not found any other guild with this focus although the habitican herbal apocathary discussed herbs it would be very nice to have a place for discussions on acupuncture without derision where honest open discussions can be had concerning treatments and prescriptions of points etc. I am currently a student of a master's program in this field and although very busy am willing to stand as guildmaster if that is what it would take to repurpose one of the meeting guilds. @MatoSapaNajin : Firstly and most importantly, if you ever see any derisive comments about any topic in any guild, please report the message (click the "report" button on the website or select "flag" or "report" from the messsage's menu in the mobile app). Moderators will be notified about your report and will handle the situation.

These days we usually don't repurpose guilds because it can be more work than merely deleting them and it can create bad feelings if old guild members aren't happy with the guild's new topic. We make some exceptions, but I think in this case we should not, since opinions vary about what constitutes medicine. Sorry about that! Reporting from my journey to Effective Altruists: No response to hail but suspect that it is a rather slow moving guild as opposed to one that is dying. This is because there are still active members in this guild, with 147 members active less than a week (not including me as I joined them as a pirate) so last rites just doesn't seem as appropriate here as some of the other guilds I've hailed, and appears to be the only one guild of this type in which I can find. From my observations, Duncan (User ID:3524dac3-d920-41c4-ac0a-5e44ec0956dd) seems to be a good candidate, however, I am a little hesitant to PM them due to the hail having no response.

Mustachians of Habitica when I hailed 1 month of ago I had two new players express interest in becoming a leader. @Vindicated (UID: 0b8dba06-baf1-48f0-a2eb-3eb1628319ec) @SomatoseVisions (UID: 2d9abd49-58f5-414b-a901-4f41087143e3). Because they both were less than month old at the time and never posted in the guild, I suggest they start doing leadership things to promote the guild. Currently there is no activity. Will keep an eye on that guild for at least another 15 days (maybe more) to see if there any movement before proposing Last Rites again.

Most of the volunteers have been new users who have not posted again after suggesting to post again in the guild. There was a little chat in July 2017, but the majority of chat on topic occurred prior OCt 2016. Recommendations? Try hailing again? Just monitor? Read Last Rites? (17 / 67 Active user in the last week).

Hello, I see that the group HEMA - Historical European Martial Arts is flagged for Last Rites. I'm not sure if it has progressed too far for this action, but I would be willing to volunteer to step in as the Guild Leader. I can clean up existing dangling threads and have a few ideas about challenges. If this is acceptable to the Cove, please let me know about next steps to run it by the guild.

@thatguymac If you think the guild can be saved, then please give it a go! You don't actually have to be the guild leader to revive a guild. If you can start some conversations and perhaps run a new challenge or two, you can prove yourself worthy to be promoted to guild leader by showing that the guild does have a future.

The LearnJapanese Guild Pirate: @tenko Last chat: 26 Sept 2016 @tenko suggested merging with the other Japanese guilds (The JRPG Club, Japanese Deep Cave Adventurers and WaniKani) however the idea did not stick. Possible due to the great troubles. Although all guilds are sort of learning Japanese they all have a different slant and all have posted in the last month so still very active. This ship is most off course with it topic, more culture than language, however if we hail and find a captain then ok. If not look at merging with The JRPG Club which is the closest match.

Reporting back on my journey on The LearnJapanese Guild: there have been two volunterees to lead the guild, though one is new to the guild, Raoulb (User ID:a2d7435c-245b-4e47-a99f-ba98d60888d0) and the other said I could consider them if no one else wants the job Floydius (User ID:c52d4ff8-a022-4726-8508-9e9096ec3285). I would recommend the newcomer since Floydius said to consider only if no one else wants the job and since this guild have been rehailed 2 times a leader chance would be welcome, so what do you recommend?

@Jude, If we feel that a volunteer has not been active in the guild long enough to be made leader right away, we post a message along the lines of: "Thank you for offering to be guild leader. We usually prefer the guild leader to be a long-standing active member of the guild so we will not appoint a new leader right now. As an ordinary guild member, there is a lot you can do to help the guild to flourish. You can join in the discussion, welcome new members and encourage guild members to post useful challenges. You can also create challenges yourself. We will look at this guild again in the future and if you have shown commitment to the guild we will look favourably on your offer to volunteer." Or something like that. Please feel free to adjust that to suit. To be honest, I thought we already had some set wording, but I can't find it -- unless someone else has it saved somewhere?

Yes, @Floydius looks like the best candidate for the Learn Japanese Guild. @Jude, would you like to post thanking @Raoulb for volunteering but explaining that as we prefer to give the leadership to a long-standing active member, we feel that @Floydius would be a better candidate? You can then add that if they are happy to accept, you will ask for @Floydius to be made the new leader.

However, @Dragonezss has specifically turned down the role because of the workload of running their party, so please send a PM to @LordGrowl inviting them to take on the role. You could point out that as they're already reading and contributing, being guild leader isn't going to involve any extra work unless they want to run challenges.

For Unicorns of Awesome, usually for a guild with no firm topic and so little recent activity, I'd push for Last Rites, but golden eagle has requested leadership and since they were very active there a while ago, I've made them leader now. Normally we'd wait a bit to see if there were any other leader suggestions before making the change, but again, since it's been so inactive lately I think other volunteers will be unlikely and changing it now gets it over and done with.

I'd like this guild to be asked if they want to keep it running or if it should be deleted. The two recently active guild members, Lalaitha and Maybe Steve Rogers, speak English well so there's no need for the Pirate's messages to be translated, and in fact Lalaitha is probably one of the people we'd ask to translate if we thought it necessary. :) If they want to keep the guild, I'm happy for that even though there's not much activity.

They less than a month to Habitica and their friend has expressed a disbelief in them managing time for the guild. That being said, this guild is arkward one to find leaders as most members are only active while completing the course (year or so). We ourselves have been trying to find a voluteers since April. Thoughts on changing?

I would like to give it a little more time as it s a support guild, and also if Last Rites occur we will be shutting down the guild if there is no response. That being said did you want to see the other PCOS players would be interested in seeing if the ~~ship~~ guild is sea worthy. Maybe one would like to run a challenge to assist those overcoming the obstacles.

Brains Trust has been on it's last legs for years. I took a shot at reviving it at one point, and a few others have taken a crack, but it hasn't really worked. I recommend it be either given it's last rites, or mayhap an old school boarding.

['Straddlers] was schedule for last rites, @nackerman (User Id: 470fa314-e514-419a-8130-c07049ee3376 Born: 2015-01-18 Posted before hail) asked for the guild to stay and when prompted to reluctantly to become leader. They have already posted again if anyone wants to become leader of the guild since. That being said, I think it best to make the leader as they are a long term player who is interested in keeping the guild alive and when they find a suitable leader can make that person a leader.

Regarding the Straddlers guild, I think that @nackerman would make a good leader and I think their point about Autostraddle having mentioned Habitica in the past and that they might to do again is a good one. If we get an influx from a popular site, it helps if there's already a guild where we can send them. I suggest that we gently urge @nackerman to take over as leader and let the guild continue.

@cTheDragons: about The JRPG Club that I have been monitoring, no response from the guild since you've posted answering the question about members not having members(Guild does not have to have a leader). It looks like that this guild is likely to roll over to the next list. The sites cannot be reached as I tried accessing them and the Facebook page for the relevant group's last post was 2013 but there are so many members and the guild appears to be slow moving but active, although the vast majority of member has not been active for more than a month though (881 members out of 1141, with 405 resting in the inn and only 187 active less than a week).

One post since hail. Two likes on my post but no volunteers. 12 posts since last hail, and most of those were about creating challenges. This guild was transferred from the May-Nov 2017 list. The number of active members has dropped since then (932/1149 active > 1 month, 398 at the Inn and 140 active < 1 week) and only 8 people have joined since. Given that this guild links to a defunct website & deleted Twitter page, I doubt many more people will join. Merges have been suggested in the past for other Japanese language-learning guilds. This one may now be a good candidate for that. The LearnJapanese Guild is very active, WaniKani and Japanese Deep Cave Adventurers much less so. Floydius (User ID:c52d4ff8-a022-4726-8508-9e9096ec3285) successfully revived The LearnJapanese Guild, a former Pirate Cove capture. They may be receptive to a merge.

Reporting back from Writers. Two people have volunteered to lead the guild: AngelCnder (ba895697-3779-4f08-a116-0746558a61c4) and Tal (cadf60ec-4de1-4917-b615-35d7503be51c). Both are fairly new to Habitica. Tal has been very active in the chat and has started up a challenge in the guild.

Because both AngelCnder (ba895697-3779-4f08-a116-0746558a61c4) and Tal (cadf60ec-4de1-4917-b615-35d7503be51c) are born in May 2017 and also because they have not been active in the guild before your hail, I would like to wait before making them leader. I recommend posting the following message, or something similar to the guild.

@AngelCnder & @Tal I have just heard back from the Powers on High regarding your request to be guild leader. Thank you for applying! Because you appear to be new to the guild they want to be sure of your long-term commitment before transferring leadership. They have therefore decided to leave things as they are for the time being but we will keep an eye on the guild for a few months to see how things go. Please just keep doing what you are doing and promoting discussion, hosting challenges etc. Once you have shown that you do intend to stay around, the issue of who is guild leader will be looked at again. If you need any help please let me know!

Alternatively it will easily stop if someone voluteers to post as leader. There has been 1 post since then on topic but not about the guild future. Wait and see?

Could we ask the current membership of

Medical Professionals (On List, Leader not active for over 1 year, 71 members active in last week of 388) The Medical Society (Not on List, Leader not active for 8 months, 27 members active of 114, on 24 lines of chat since April 2017) to merge to

Doctors, medical students and health professionals. and perform last rites on the other guilds? The suggestion has come from the leader of Doctors, medical students and health professionals. and in this instance is good one considering the 1st guild is agreeing to go and the other is considered empty. If you wish we can cause a vote to happen in both guilds to ensure everyone has their say but I fear for the second one there may not be much chatter considering its history.

The only thing that may need attention in Medical Professionals which is in the countdown of last rites, and someone has stated they wish to keep the guild but has come to group after the last rites hail. That being said there is no harm waiting for month (while you recover and for us to keep the guild around)

I think we might as well let Medical Professionals continue for a while, as you say. It might be worth asking that new person if they want to be leader.
