The Tasks tab in the toolbar displays the player's Habits, Dailies, To Do's, and Rewards. It is Habitica's main page where players can keep track of their progress.
(Tip: The difference between the three types of tasks is that Habits are ongoing/anytime tasks, Dailies are regularly due on a set timetable, and To Do's are done once and disappear when completed.)
The Tasks button on the far left of the toolbar links to this page.
At the top of the tasks page on the website are a search box, a filter button, and a button to add new tasks. Beneath that there are columns (from left to right) for Habits, Dailies, To Do's, and Rewards.
Habits[]
- Main article: Habits
Habits in Habitica can be good or bad, just like in real life. Here you can add, delete or edit your Habits. Easily click or mark your progress on your Habits here. You can also use this section for reminders or quotes.
Dailies[]
- Main article: Dailies
Dailies are used to track tasks scheduled in a known, repeatable fashion. You can edit a Daily to have a checklist for tasks with sub-tasks, or modify their difficulty and attributes. Remember to check them off every day they are due to avoid penalties! You can add a reminder on Habitica's official mobile apps on Android and iOS.
To Do's[]
- Main article: To Do's
To Do's are one-time tasks, like "Wash the car", "Rake the leaves in the yard", or "Buy milk". You can edit a To Do to have a deadline, but missing it will not affect you in any way. You can add a reminder on Habitica's official mobile apps on Android and iOS.
Rewards[]
- Main article: Rewards
Every time you perform a positive Habit or complete a Daily or To Do, you earn gold that can be used to purchase Rewards. Rewards can be in-game Rewards (like equipment for your avatar) or custom personal Rewards. Find out what motivates you best and add your personalized Rewards!
Search Bar[]
You can quickly and easily find a specific task from long lists that are hard to navigate by using the search bar on the upper portion of the task page. Enter any word that is used in the task description, notes, or checklist items. You can also enter an emoji to find all tasks decorated with it, or any text that appears in markdown (e.g., search for https://to find all tasks that contain links).
Note that if a task is hidden from the current view (if you are only displaying tasks that use certain tags, or are on a tab showing only some tasks such as 'Due' for Dailies) it will not appear using the search bar.
Tags[]
- Main article: Tags
Using tags allows you to focus on only a select group of tasks at once. Click on the filter button, then select the appropriate tag and all the associated Habits, Dailies, and To Do's will be displayed. Add your own personalized tags to keep your tasks organized!
Personalizing Your Tasks Page[]
You can personalize your tasks page by adding emoji to your Habits, Dailies and To Do's.
Rearranging Your Tasks[]
Habits, Dailies, Rewards, and To Do's can be rearranged by dragging and dropping them in their new position. When using the website, there is also an option to move tasks to the top or bottom of the list by clicking on the three dots in the top right corner of the task and choosing "To top" or "To bottom."
Tasks Become Unsorted - Last List Sort Order Is Not Preserved | |
Description: | Sometimes, when you sort your To-Dos, some or all of them will become unsorted, either immediately after you have sorted them, or later when you add new To-Dos. You can use the Task Adjustor Tool (Direct Link) to confirm if you have this bug. If you are affected by this bug, the tool will display an orange message (see screenshot below) once you log in. |
Solution: | The workaround is to report the issue to the Staff by going to Help > Report a Bug (on the website) or Support / About > Report a Bug (on the apps). This opens a preformatted email to admin@habitica.com with some of your account details, where you can add the message from the tool. An admin will then cleanse some data in your account, which will fix the problem. You cannot fix this problem yourself. In particular, deleting completed To-Dos will NOT help (it used to help for a previous version of this bug, but it won't make any difference now). |

Task History[]
- Main articles: Task Value, Data Display Tool
Habits and Dailies retain a history so progress and streaks can be tracked. Deleting a Habit or Daily erases all the history for that task. If you no longer want to do a Daily but don't want to lose its history, make it grey or export your data.
Other Uses[]
Please see each of the task's main articles for details.
