A player wishing to start anew in Habitica can choose from many options. Each option resets different aspects of the game and requires consideration.
Permanent Options[]
Once you confirm any restart option, the changes are permanent. The admins will be unable to reverse your actions.
You will always keep any items that have been purchased with gems (see footnote A below concerning "limited edition equipment"). These include eggs, hatching potions, quest scrolls, food, avatar customization purchases, and backgrounds. You will also keep achievements and gems.
The methods for starting over are:
Option | Main Feature | Best Used For Players Who |
---|---|---|
Fortify Potion | resets all non-challenge tasks to yellow | had setbacks with tasks or have been neglecting tasks, or have so many blue tasks that the game is not challenging |
Key to the Kennels | depending on which key chosen may releases all 90 (Gen. 1) pets and/or mounts | enjoy collecting pets and raising them to mounts |
Changing Classes | allows you to choose a new class |
|
Orb of Rebirth | resets your character to level one and resets class | have attained a high level and find the game too easy or want the achievement badge |
Reset Account | resets many parts of your account, including tasks and histories | have been playing a short time and want a fresh start or have returned and wish to "start over" |
The following table summarizes some of the differences between the options.

A You will lose much of your equipment but you will be able to repurchase all gear. You will need to be in the correct class to re-buy class-specific gear. All limited edition equipment that you had previously purchased (for gold or for gems in the Seasonal Shop) will become available to be purchased again for gold (not gems) in the Market area, even if it is no longer available to new players. Equipment from the Enchanted Armoire which the player had previously obtained will be available in the Market area to be bought for 100 GP and it will also be available again in the Armoire.
B Your Battle Gear is changed but the old gear remains in your inventory.
Changeable Options[]
You can use the Fix Character Values feature to reset your level without affecting any of your inventory or stats, so you could change your level to 1. However, this is not a true start over option because your stat points are not reset; you will still be as strong as you were when you were at the higher level.
