Habitica (formerly HabitRPG before July 31, 2015) was created on January 30, 2013. Its birthday is celebrated on January 31 every year. To celebrate this joyous occasion, Habitica holds a special event.
During each birthday celebration, as a thank-you for making Habitica what it is, every player receives cake, a special achievement, and the opportunity to purchase a set of Party Robes for free, the specific type depending on how many years the player has been a member of Habitica.
The NPCs proudly sport Party Robes and Party Hats throughout the birthday festivities.
Cake[]
The 2014 Birthday Bash marked the release of the first ever seasonal edition food item, cake. Every Birthday Bash after, this tradition has been reiterated. Each player is automatically gifted a full complement of ten cakes corresponding to the ten types of food. Every food drop for the duration of the Birthday Bash is replaced with a cake of the same or a similar type. Cake can be fed to pets in the same way as regular food and offers no benefit over regular food.

The Birthday Bash achievement
Each user account is automatically given the Habitica Birthday Bash achievement. The achievement stacks for each Birthday Bash celebrated.
Party Robes[]
The Habitica Birthday Bash also includes a set of party robes. Robes are always free, though the exact method of delivery has varied. Robes can not be sold.
The description for all robes is: "Happy Birthday, Habitica! Wear these Absurd Party Robes to celebrate this wonderful day. Confers no benefit."
The party robes are an Event Item Sequence, meaning a new player will always receive the Absurd Party Robes their first year, the Silly Party Robes their second year, and so on.
Absurd Party Robes
The Absurd Party Robes are the first robes in the Event Item Sequence. They were released on January 30, 2014, and could be purchased in the Item Shop for 0 GP.
Silly Party Robes
The Silly Party Robes are the second robes in the Event Item Sequence. They were released on January 30, 2015, and could be purchased in the Rewards Store for 0 GP until February 1st.
Ridiculous Party Robes
The Ridiculous Party Robes are the third robes in the Event Item Sequence. They were released on January 29, 2016, and could be purchased in the Rewards column for 0 GP until February 1st.
Whimsical Party Robes
The Whimsical Party Robes are the fourth robes in the Event Item Sequence. They were released on January 31, 2017, and could be purchased in the Rewards column for 0 GP.
Fanciful Party Robes
The Fanciful Party Robes are the fifth robes in the Event Item Sequence. They were released on January 30, 2018, and could be purchased in the Rewards column for 0 GP.
Outlandish Party Robes
The Outlandish Party Robes are the sixth robes in the Event Item Sequence. They were released on January 31, 2019, and could be purchased in the Rewards column for 0 GP.
Outrageous Party Robes
The Outrageous Party Robes are the seventh robes in the Event Item Sequence. They were released on January 31, 2020, and could be purchased in the Rewards column for 0 GP.
Extravagant Party Robes
The Extravagant Party Robes are the eighth robes in the Event Item Sequence. They were released on January 29, 2021, and could be purchased in the Rewards column for 0 GP.
Preposterous Party Robes
The Preposterous Party Robes are the ninth robes in the Event Item Sequence. They were released on January 31, 2022, and could be purchased in the Rewards column for 0 GP.
Fabulous Party Robes
The Fabulous Party Robes are the tenth robes in the Event Item Sequence. They were released on January 30, 2023, and were automatically delivered to each player's inventory.
NPC Designs[]
As in the Grand Galas, the NPCs join in on the fun. Every NPC wears versions of the Party Hat and Party Robes for the occasion.
Happy Birthday Cards[]
During the Birthday Bash 2016, Happy Birthday Cards were introduced. These cards are available for purchase throughout the year. They can be sent to party members and show the message "Happy birthday to you!" when opened. Both recipient and sender receive the Birthday Bonanza achievement.
10th Anniversary[]
On January 30, 2023, the Staff invited everyone to join them in celebrating Habitica's 10th Birthday Bash!
The celebration lasted from the announcement until 11:59 PM US Eastern on February 8th.
